Sri Lanka: Hiking World’s End – Is It Worth It?
World’s End is an often overlooked sheer cliff, with a drop of about 4000 feet (1200 m), located within the Horton Plains National Park in Sri Lanka. Because getting there takes a bit of preparation, many decide to skip it. Is that a mistake? Is World’s End actually worth the hassle?
Personally, I have hardly had any information about the trek before arriving in Nuwara Eliya. But after hiking World’s End in March 2019, I want to put my two cents into the discussion.
Where to Stay
I suggest you base yourself in Nuwara Eliya, the prime tea-growing district of Sri Lanka. Read More
5 Full Days in Magical Cappadocia: All You Need to Know
“See this photo on a wall?” I say pointing to a small restaurant while walking around Budapest at midnight. “That is Uçhisar and it’s my favourite place on Earth.” It is no secret I was madly in love with Cappadocia, Turkey even before I got there. However, once I had finally made it to this historical region, I could not stop talking about how much I want to go back. Although months have passed, I still daydream about the unique moon-like landscape every week.
In this post, I will be sharing what we did, where we stayed and the tips I have for you. In total, we spent 6 nights in Cappadocia. We didn’t visit any other place in Turkey during that trip because our holiday time was limited. I would highly recommend combining Instanbul, Pamukkale and Cappadocia, if you have more time.

Budget Breakdown for Cappadocia, Turkey
Cappadocia has been on my radar for the longest time. Days, months and even years passed, as I was blissfully watching the documentaries explaining the unreal look this region has. But here’s the hack: getting there is not so easy. It is by no means hard, you can either fly to Istanbul and take a bus or you can fly directly to Nevsehir airport or Kayseri airport. Plenty of options, even for the picky ones. My main concern was the cost of these flights. But last summer I finally had some luck and so the adventure began…
Below you can find our budget breakdown. We were staying for 6 nights (5 full days) and it felt like the perfect amount of time. We did not rent a car this time, so I renamed the categories a bit. That allows me to explain the costs better. Please note that I first write down the price we paid together and then calculate how much it was per person. Read More
Is Sri Lanka Cheap to Travel?
Before getting to Sri Lanka, I have spent days reading countless blog posts to have an idea of how much money to take with me. While I am well aware the numbers will differ from a person to person because of their needs, it was still hard to find the average.
In short, below you can see how much I spent when traveling in pair. We did not hold back when it came to food, experiences or even lodging, in some cases. At the same time, we tried not to overpay when we had an option. I believe that traveling solo would cost me around the same.
Please note that I first write down the price we paid together and then calculate how much it was per person.
