Living in the US: Halfway Through

While I was still at home, I often mentioned what a long period 4 months are. How much can change during one quarter of a year. And people would, over and over again, tell me my time in the USA will pass quicker than I can imagine. Here we are, two months and a half into the trip and I am just starting to realize how little we still have left.

Never bored

At the end of July, I got a second job at a gift shop next door. I didn’t search for it but decided to grab the opportunity when it appeared. What a great decision this was! I love keeping myself a little bit busier during the week and I met some of the kindest people there. I always leave with the biggest smile on my face. The job itself is fine too… Most of the time less stressful than my first job at the front desk and very dynamic.

More lakes

Even though I now work a little over 60 hours a week, I am still keeping two days completely off. In the last 5 weeks, we did some of the most scenic hikes: the Highline, Cracker Lake, Iceberg Lake and Ptarmigan Tunnel. Hopefully, there are no fires inside the park this year so we can continue exploring for as long as possible! I do not plan to do any camping while here, though.

Starry nights

Earlier this month it was the first time this summer Aurora Borealis forecast was looking very promising for Montana. The northern lights didn’t pay us a visit, but I still managed to get some shots of the night sky above Lake McDonald. How lucky am I to be here?!

I can’t wait to see what the next five weeks bring!
